The real estate agency company was founded in 1932 by Wilfred E. Taplin at 15 Jetty Road, Glenelg. He became a Councillor of the Real Estate Institute in 1946 for 32 years and believed serving in that capacity was the most highly regarded honour he could achieve. He was rewarded for that outstanding performance by being appointed President for two years in 1953 and 1954 and being made a Life Member in 1969.

Mr. Noel E. Taplin commenced with the Agency in 1941 and opened the Adelaide Office in 1948 at the age of 24 years. In 1958 he founded the Investment company (later to be named Taplin Corporation Pty Ltd). In 1968 he arranged the building of the first phase of Mitcham Shopping Centre and in 1969 the Marden Shopping Centre.

The Taplin Group has expanded over the years from the original business to become one of South Australia’s largest family owned and financially sound businesses, with over $2 billion of assets under management. The Group now comprises 53 separate companies involved in office buildings, multi storey apartments, resort development and retail projects.

Today the Group operates from Glenelg and Adelaide, covering the metropolitan area and continuing to pursue its growth strategy aimed at anticipating client’s needs and providing services in selling and property management.
